Default Slain marine's dad torches van

A FLORIDA MAN driven mad by grief after being told his son had died in Iraq was badly burned yesterday firebombing the Marine Corps van that brought him the horrible news. After three Marines told Carlos Arredondo that his son Alexander, 20, was killed the night before in Najaf, the mechanic rushed to his garage and grabbed a can of gasoline and a lighter. Breaking the van window with the gas can, Arredondo Chanel Shopping Bags, 44, jumped inside, dumped the gasoline and set the van ablaze. He was still inside after the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames Chanel Bowling Bags, said Hollywood, Fla., police Capt. Tony Rode. The Marines, who had tried to stop Arrendondo, pulled him out, but not before he suffered severe burns to his legs and arms. Arredondo - whose birthday was yesterday - was in serious condition at a Miami hospital's burn unit last night. Arredondo realized what the Marines were about to tell him when they headed toward his door, said his wife, Melida, the dead Marine's stepmother. "My husband immediately knew that his firstborn son had been killed, and my husband did not take the news well," she said. "It doesn't surprise me that he was so traumatized. He went crazy." She was seen telling a relative, "Carlos freaked out, and he hurt himself more than anybody. He's got major burns all over his body." The Marines were shellshocked. "We have not seen this type of reaction. Every reaction is negative; it's the loss of a loved one www.yslpumpsus.com," said Marines spokesman Maj. Scott Mack. Luz Marina Arredondo, Alexander's grandmother, blamed the government for her grandson's death. "They send them like guinea pigs over there," she said. Police said they would take into account Arredondo's injuries and state of mind before deciding whether to press charges. "We'll see how he recovers before doing anything," Rode said. droseabout:
