World Wide Release Date Plans
World Wide Release Date Plans

I thought I would write a quick article clearing up DragonBall Online release date misconceptions for America/Europe. So here goes.

This week a member of our community posted a thread stating that Dragonball Online is not on Namco Bandai’s 2010 games release list, see thread here. This information is correct and Namco Bandai is the official international publisher for Dragonball Online.

Of course this was very disappointing news. I emailed Namco Bandai America to see if they would comment on the matter.

Namco Bandai America replied:

“We currently have the Dragonball Online release date as TBA 2010.”

Good news, or is it?

I also found an interesting Q&A dated 27th of November 2009 with the CJ Internet’s CEO (Mr. Koji Takamiya) commenting on a World Wide Release for Dragonball Online.

Koji, CEO

Koji, CEO

Koji “Well we first plan to release Dragonball Online to Japan and we have just signed a publisher for Taiwan. As for a world wide release, this will depend on the game’s success in Korea and Japan.”

So it appears that there is currently no plans on releasing Dragonball Online to America/Europe until the success of the game is measured in Japan and Korea, despite what Namco Bandai America stated.

I agree that the Japanese and Korean people should test the games first cause of the fact that the have some of the most advanced technology. Even so the American people should have a right to at least try a demo of the game. We wait and wait for the hopes of getting a chance to play this game and expericing a new evolution of the DBZ world. I have planned to join the game making works and like to please the people by giving them result estimated due dates and web feed and videos of how it is coming along. The game work is doing fine as far as I can tell the hack level is low so that is good and it should be close to a release. I am hoping that you all read this all that agree and want to contact me you can catch me on yahoo under killashadows.

“So it appears that there is currently no plans on releasing Dragonball Online to America/Europe until the success of the game is measured in Japan and Korea”? so if this game become famous, they will make Amerika/Europe version? what?!! this game has been so famous!! every one knows dragonball… its like legendary anime!!! any one want to play it even they want to: study korean/japan, buy Account, and so much more!!

A problem about releasing this game around this time is the fact that Dragon Ball is very very old in Japan and the rest of Asia. Most people who watched it are now in there 20+ maybe even 30s by now.

But in NA and EU Dragon Ball isn’t all that old and most fan and viewers are in there teens, so it’s more likely people will play it here, but since it was so epic I’m sure it’ll be a success in Asia just as much as NA and EU.

i think the namco doing the international release thing wrong, the test in korea and japan will be successfull. But i think the test will take 1 year to be sure and in 2011 there will be a lot of grand MMO’s like Star Wars The Old Republic, so if you wont release the game in 2010 you cant make any succes in any other country after Japan and Korea in 2011. This is my opinion and it is very optimistic, please make your game plans carefully because we all love dragon ball so much that we dont want to lose it.

they should definetly release DBO in America and i bet there will be more people playing it. i guess we have to wait for the American version to come out, but could there at least be a release date so we know. it’s going to be fucking awsome.

    July 6, 2010

1st off Come on Korea/Japan SAY IT’S GOOD!
2nd Its already one of the most popular games (even before it had a beta)
3rd Korea/Japan should play first because they have more technology and DBZ did originate in China
4th if you’ve waited 10 years for it you can wait 1 more for Korea/Japan to vote yes *and i do know they will vote yes how could you not?*

well here it is august 28 2010 and no news, plenty of olds, but no news. whoever said no news is good news is obviously not a dragon ball fan. i mean after what they did with the movie and now this. my love for dragon ball is slowly fading and i never thought i would have to say that. still i have hope, i know, i know the movie sucked but i still enjoyed it cause they tried i mean they butchered the story, but its proof of concept. if you ask me instead of a sequel they they should rehash it. its like the hulk, first movie SUCKED, second attempt infinitely better. now i say that to say this, much like the movie this game is proof of concept even though the producers have apparently no desire to update news or give a clear dipiction of what to expect as an “american” who is emotionally invested in this franchise should not mean the end of hope for an entire fan base. although i write this with a heavy heart and my own enthousiasm flickering from a raging fire to a smoldering piece of coal i cant help but wonder if the fire cant be lit once more. the only hope that remains is that someone with the power to address the problem i have with the lack of respect for the fans and the will to push this game through to international audiences will find this post and and grant my wish* to see this game reach the world over.

    *preferably Shenron :)

your all just flaming because your waiting, and impatient. if your not willing to spend $20 dollars for an activated account, you can wait for a very soon japan release, which should be super easy to make/ activate an account, once someone makes a step by step, page on it, i can’t read Japanese, and some stuff is not copyable “woah copyable is a word” on these websites to google translate. so its a matter of months, if you actually put effort into it.
